Amir holds phone talk with Sudan’s president
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday held a telephone conversation with Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir. During the conversation, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and means of boosting them, in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual interest.

Land for Qatar embassy building in Bangladesh
In accordance with the principle of reciprocity, Qatar and Bangladesh signed a land allocation agreement by the Bangladesh Government for the construction of a building for Qatar’s embassy in Bangladesh. The signing ceremony was attended by HE the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi, and Secretary for Bilateral and Consular Affairs in Bangladesh Kamrul Ahsan. The agreement was signed by Qatar’s ambassador to Bangladesh Ahmed bin Mohamed al-Duhaimi, and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (Rajuk) of Bangladesh Mohamed Abdur Rahman.

Al Jazeera renews call for journalist’s release
Al Jazeera Media Network yesterday reiterated the demand for the immediate release of its journalist Mahmoud Hussein, imprisoned in Egypt for 500 days “without trial or official charges.” “Despite international calls by rights groups and international institutions for his release, including the United Nations, he remains incarcerated,” according to a statement. “His detention has been unjustly continuously renewed since his arrest in December 2016 upon arrival in Cairo on holiday.” Hussein is Al Jazeera Arabic Channel’s journalist.
