HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani has said Qatar Airways’ investment of about $92bn to buy more than 332 US-made aircraft is in line with the economic policy adopted by Qatar for many years.
This aims to enhance the country’s openness to the world’s major economies and strengthen co-operation and partnership with its various strategic partners, particularly the US, he said.
The observations came in remarks by the minister during his visit to The Boeing Company in Charleston, as part of the economic tour of the US by a Qatari delegation.
During the visit, the minister was accompanied by Joan Robinson-Berry, vice-president and general manager, Boeing South Carolina, as well as a number of dignitaries, businessmen and CEOs of major Qatari companies.
HE Sheikh Ahmed expressed pleasure at visiting the plant, which represents one of the most important pillars of strength of the US economy, and pointed to the strategic partnership between Qatar Airways and Boeing.
During his tour of the company’s various facilities, the minister was briefed on the production lines for the manufacture of commercial and civil aircraft, in addition to its most important features and new models.
