After her best-selling debut novel The Shadow of the Crescent Moon, and her second book Songs of Blood and Sword, writer and poet Fatima Bhutto is all set to come out with a new book in October.
Titled The Runaways, this will be her third novel, spanning from Karachi to the nightlife of London, from the dockyards of Portsmouth to the deserts of Mosul.
She is daughter of Murtaza Bhutto, niece of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and granddaughter of former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
Her latest work of fiction will be published by Penguin Random House India.
Bhutto took to Twitter and expressed: “I am very happy that The Runaways, my new novel, will be published first in Pakistan, India, and the region by Penguin India this October.”
In a recent interview, the author told the Times of India: “Penguin India has been my ‘home’ for the past 10 years and I am thrilled that my new novel – a book very close to my heart – will be published by them this October.”
According to Penguin India, the upcoming novel delves into burning questions about the modern Muslim identity in a world aflame with violence.
From the slums of Karachi to life in Portsmouth, the story follows three individuals who cross paths in the middle of a desert, forcing them to make difficult decisions.
