Emir condoles with Algerian president
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani sent yesterday cables of condolences to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on the victims of the military plane that crashed near the Boufarik military airport killing 257 people. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani sent a similar cable to Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.

UK moves subs within striking distance of Syria
British Prime Minister Theresa May has ordered British submarines to move within missile range of Syria in readiness for strikes against the Syrian military that could begin as early as tonight, the Daily Telegraph newspaper said. Meanwhile, the White House said President Donald Trump has not laid out a timetable for action in response to a suspected chemical attack in Syria, despite his note on Twitter that missiles “will be coming”.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a stoppage-time penalty after Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon was sent off in late drama as Real Madrid advanced to the last four of the Champions League despite a 3-1 home defeat. Bayern Munich, meanwhile, sealed their place in the semi-finals with a goalless draw at home to Sevilla.

Citizens asked to clear camping sites
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has asked citizens to remove their tents and other possessions from camping sites by April 30, following the end of the winter camping season on April 1. Campers can obtain a certificate after clearing the camping site and then proceed to the municipality concerned to claim their security deposit.
