Qatar Airways, one of the youngest airlines in the world with strong presence in all six continents, is the sponsor of the tournament and has been supporting the Qatar Cricket Association in development of the sport in Qatar for a long time.
Both the finalists have been in form and their one-sided victories in the semi-finals indicate that the title clash at the Asia Town Cricket Stadium is likely to be a mouth-watering contest.
Tanveer was outstanding in Al Feroz Youngsters’ huge 101-run victory against HBK, after clobbering six sixes and as many boundaries in his unbeaten 129 off 149 balls to bolster his team to a formidable 330 for five in 50 overs.
Warriors Club’s Adnan also exhibited superb batting when he slammed 107 in 76 balls to lead his team to a dominant nine-wicket after a brisk 150-run chase against Commercial Bank Qatar in other semi-final match.
With both teams being in balance and keen to win the title, there will be fireworks aplenty and spectators and cricket fans can hope for a big treat.
Qatar Cricket Association president Yousef Jeham al-Kuwari thanked Qatar Airways for its support to the sport and the tournament and said, “Finally, we are approaching to the finale of the long and interesting cricket season in Qatar. We also take this opportunity to thank our partners Qatar Airways and its Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker for the long and valuable support to us.
“We cherish this relationship and feel it would have been virtually impossible for us to take the game to its present levels without the backing of Qatar Airways and Mr Baker,” he said.
Manzoor Ahmad, the operations manager at the Qatar Cricket Association, wished good luck to both the finalists and expressed hope for an evenly-contested final.
“The final will be played in two sessions, considering the heat. The first session will start at 7am and finish at 11.30am. The team batting second will start playing at 3pm. We have made elaborate arrangements for both the teams and cricket fans.
“The finalists are quite popular and we expect a big gathering to turn up for cheering their sides. Also there are attractive gifts in raffle draw for fans. We will provide refreshments and water to spectators as well,” he said.
