The Qatar Financial Centre has launched its first employee community engagement and volunteering programme, Busmah, as part of the QFC’s CSR and social investment strategy, which focuses on youth and education, as well as community development.
Busmah in Arabic means “to leave a personal print,” and the Busmah programme aims to impart a real, measurable, and tangible impact on the community by turning the employees into agents of change and role models for everyone, the QFC said in a statement.
Under Busmah, QFC employees are encouraged to volunteer in monthly CSR initiatives that show goodwill and impart valuable knowledge to the whole community. So far, QFC and its employees have been involved in a number of effective initiatives under Busmah.
They include a visit to Ehsan elderly care centre, engaging children from Orphan Care Centre (Dreama), a visit to Hamad Children Hospital Ward, and planting QFC’s first seeds in the gardens of Msheireb Downtown Doha to celebrate World Planting Day.
Yousef Fakhroo, chief Marketing & Corporate Communications officer, QFC Authority, said: “At the QFC, we have always valued the importance of working together towards building a healthier community. We are very excited to launch Busmah and initiate the first full-fledged volunteering programme. The QFC team is always eager to contribute to the prosperity of our society and Busmah will give everyone this chance.
“We have already engaged in some successful initiatives under Busmah with colleagues from QFC Authority, QFC Regulatory Authority, Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre, and Qatar Finance and Business Academy that left a lasting impact not only on our community but also gave our employees a sense of fulfilment and achievement as they helped different members of society.”
The QFC CSR programme underscores its commitment to its ethical, social, and environmental responsibilities. One of the CSR’s main pillars at QFC is community development that entails focusing on the inclusion of all members of society. QFC’s CSR and social investment strategy also focuses on youth and education to help build a new generation of leaders.
