Qatar and the US businesses yesterday explored prospects of co-operation especially in the areas of tourism/hospitality, healthcare and real estate sectors.
The themed-roundtables were attended by HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, chairman of Qatari Businessmen Association, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem al-Thani, chairman of Qatar Chamber, other members in the visiting delegation in the presence of the US businessmen.
The meet, which was held in Miami, comes as part of the Qatar US economic roadshow currently being underway.
The first session discussed opportunities for co-operation in the tourism sector and hotels in the presence of the Miami Tourism Board with a number of major hotel companies and consulting firms. Investment projects in Miami were presented to Qatari businessmen.
Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company, a subsidiary of Al Faisal Holdings, already has significant presence in the US hotel sector and its portfolio includes Radisson Blu Aqua, St Regis Bal Harbour Resort, The Manhattan at Times Square, The St Regis Washington DC and Q Miami Hotel.
Katara Hospitality — a global hotel owner, developer and operator, based in Qatar — is now focused on achieving its target of 60 hotels in its portfolio by 2026.
Qatari businessmen also called on their American counterparts to invest in the hospitality sector in Qatar and to promote partnerships in this sector.
The second session reviewed the investment opportunities related to the healthcare sector and the opportunities thereof for co-operation between the two countries.
The investment opportunities in the most prominent real estate projects offered for foreign investment were also presented by Qatar to the US businesses in Miami.
