A number of participants at the Qatar-US Economic Forum lauded the event and the projects presented there, highlighting the importance of the discussions held among the participants.
They stressed that the forum, held in Miami, Florida, allows businesspersons from Qatar and the US to review mutual investment opportunities to enhance business ties and economic co-operation among the two countries, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) said in a statement yesterday.
Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to the US, said the importance of the ongoing US tour lies in the fact that it will create new commercial and trade ties between the two countries, and also foster new partnerships and opportunities for co-operation and investment that will reflect the strength of Qatar-US relations.
He noted that Qatari businesspersons can benefit from the tour and the economic forum through the joint meetings held with US businesspersons, and review possible investment opportunities in the US and Qatar for them.
A number of Qatari and US businesspersons also stressed the importance of the event and expected it to further strengthen business relations between the two countries. The forum would help open up more investment opportunities in both countries, which would  potentially result in joint ventures across various fields.
The US businesspersons attending the forum were of the opinion that Qatar has a strong economy and is seeking more partnerships, and the importance of the event can be gauged from the fact that HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani is leading the delegation, the statement noted.
On their part, the Qatari businesspersons reiterated that the economic forum will allow the participants to develop business in both countries and explore new opportunities.
The forum has been organised by the MEC in association with Qatar Chamber,  American Chamber of Commerce,  Qatari Businessmen Association and US-Qatar Business Council.
More than 200 businesspersons and Qatari officials are attending the forum, along with some 200 businesspersons and executives from major US companies.
On the sidelines of the forum, several discussions are being held between representatives of the business sector from the two countries with the aim of strengthening the existing economic partnership between Qatar and the US.
The Qatari delegation’s “economic tour” is also scheduled to cover Washington, DC, Charleston and Raleigh.
