the Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanim
bin Shaheen al-Ghanim, who is visiting the United States, held separate
meetings with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph
Francis Danford, Vice-Chief of Staff of the Air Force
General
Stephen Wilson, and Assistant Secretary of Defence for International
Security Affairs Robert Karem in Washington yesterday. The meetings
discussed relations between Qatar and the United States of America and
means of strengthening and developing them in the defence and military
fields, and a number of issues of mutual interest, especially
strengthening efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism. The
Chief of Staff also met a number of officials in major US defence
companies, thinkers and researchers from the
Business Executives for National Security (BENS) and from US research centres.
