Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced the implementation and financing of an integrated programme that worth $1mn, as part of its strategy for health sector development in Gaza Strip.

The society stated that the project, which will be implemented over the course of two years, contributes to improving the quality of health services provided in the Strip.
QRCS added that the programme includes several aspects, notably the hiring of consultants in cardiology, urinary tract treatment, as well as two major programs to develop the capacity of local cadres, namely a Master of Mental Health at the University of Jerusalem, Anaesthesia diploma and intensive care at the Islamic University as well.
In a related context, physicians from the urology section are hosted in Qatar, within the specialised Emiri scholarship for Palestinian physicians, aiming at treating and providing service to the sick, as well as training Palestinian cadres who have been denied exit and travel for training outside Gaza due to the siege and the closure of the crossings.
QRCS has been implementing a series of qualitative programmes in Gaza's healthcare sector since 2008, with the aim of improving health conditions and save the lives of patients and reduce the treatment bill outside the Strip, noting that the total value of QRCS humanitarian projects in Gaza has so far exceeded $110mn.
