The second edition of the ‘Ooredoo Temba’ football tournament, organised by Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) in partnership with Ooredoo, draws to a close today.
The tournament kicked off on March 26 and has seen 16 teams compete for glory during the past few days. The top three teams will be awarded valuable prizes from the event’s partners in a closing ceremony due to take place on today evening.
Organised for male football enthusiasts aged 18 and above on Aspire Zone’s five-a-side-pitches, the 16 teams that have signed up to take part were divided into four groups. Each team consists of seven members: four first-team players including a goalkeeper and three substitutes. Each match lasts for 35 minutes consisting of two halves of 15 minutes each and a five-minute half-time break.
The teams competing in Group A are Al Waab, Zekreet, Jordanian Community and Milan. Group B includes teams Al Jawareh, Egypt, Black Star and My City. Group C includes teams Samla, Almatar, QBC and APG. While Group D includes teams Alzaeem, Omani Community, Al Wajba and Kosovo.
The group stages concluded on March 28. Teams Zekreet and the Jordanian Community topped group A and will be joined in the quarter-finals by Al Jawareh and Black Star from group B. Teams Samla and QBC from group C and Alzaeem and Al Wajba from group D topped their respective groups, and will face one another in the quarter-finals.

Our five-a-side Ooredoo Temba is yet another unique event we’re making available to Qatar’s sports fans, and presents an ideal opportunity for friends and family to come together and have fun in a competitive setting.
It perfectly reflects AZF’s mission to promote a sporting culture and encourage healthy lifestyles among members of the local community.”
The pitches on which the tournament takes place are covered with high quality artificial football turf that meet FIFA’s exacting quality standards.
They are also designed to help reduce water consumption, in line with AZF’s commitment to support the Environmental pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030 – designed to move the country towards greater sustainability and minimise environmental impact.
The closing ceremony and final matches to decide first, second and third places will take place at 7:30pm in the presence of senior officials from AZF and Ooredoo.
Each member from the winning team will receive phones from Ooredoo, whilst second and third place winners will receive valuable cash prizes.
