The owner-trainer duo of Mohanad Jassim al-Yaqout and Hadi Nasser Rashid al-Ramzani capped Wednesday’s action at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club with two straight winners, with MJ Lattam (AF Albahar x Menwat Al Jazeera) claiming the six furlong Fuweiret Cup.
Coming into the race, the 5-year-old had never finished outside the frame over C&D, and the record stayed intact, as talented Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim helmed the colt to his third victory this season.  However, before the connections enjoyed the fruits of the victory, Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi’s charge, Rassan (Amer x Sandytiki), ridden by Harry Bentley, had given MJ Lattam a scare, missing out only by a short head at the line. Hassan Ali Hassan al-Matwi’s Raqee (Mared Al Sahra x Cath) completed the top three under Saleem Golam.

THOROUGHBRED CONDITIONS (Class 2)
 Hadi Nasser Rashid al-Ramzani trained Karraar (Dubawi x Maghya) went one better than his last outing to register his first victory in 2018. Mohanad Jassim al-Yaqout owned gelding had a runner up finish over C&D in the Mesaimeer Cup a week ago, and on Wednesday did well to finish the mile and a furlong run with a little over two lengths to spare under a confident ride by Tomas Lukasek.  Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim al-Malki trained First to Post (Acclamation x Aoife Alainn), helmed by Eduard Pedroza, was second ahead of Mohammed Riyaz Ibrahim Kasim schooled Emaad (Arch x Diesis), with Almotasem al-Balushi astride.

THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 3) (75-95)
 Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim al-Malki trained Victory Laurel (Holy Roman Emperor x Special Cause) was back in the winner’s circle after more than a year. Ridden by Saleem Golam in the six furlong sprint, the 8-year-old went past the line with three quarters of a length to spare even as JP Guillambert guided Mohamed Riyaz Ibrahim Kasim trained Receding Waves (Dick Turpin x Welanga) to a close second. 
The 5-year-old edged out Ahmed Mohamed Kobeissi trained Beach Samba (Lope De Verga x Braziliz) was third under Jean Baptiste Hamel’s ride.

THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 4) (80 & below)
 Jassim Mohamed Ghazali Jahromi’s second winner of the day was Shaheen bin Khalid Shaheen al-Ghanim owned Yaarmen (Nayef x Haamaat). The 4-year-old had registered a string of near misses, six top three finishes to be precise, without a win since moving to Qatar from the UK. After finishing a strong second on his last outing over 2800m, the gelding proved just as effective over a much shorter 1700m to notch his first victory in Qatar. Disco Inferno (Lawman x Pink Sovietstaia), ridden by Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim for trainer Hamad Mohammed Al Khayarin, beat Mohamed Hussain Afroz’s ward, Succeed and Excel (Exceed and Excel x Woodbeck), helmed by Jean Baptiste Hamel, for the second sport by half a length.

LOCAL THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (75 & below)
 Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim al-Malki’s War King (Paynter x Queensbridge) made it two straight victories in as many weeks as Mohamed Abdulla Abdulmalik owned colt topped the 1700m run in a thrilling finish. The 3-year-old had made a perfect debut in a six furlong maiden a week ago, winning by almost 10 lengths. 
Eduardo Pedroza was once again in the saddle and did enough to keep the record intact as War King stepped up in distance in style to beat Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi’s Abu Samrah (Zafeen x Starks), with Harry Bentley astride, by a quarter of a length. 
Another ward from the stables of the Champion Trainer, Rawdat Al Khail (Falco x La Seine), helmed by JP Guillambert, completed the top three.

PUREBRED ARABIAN HANDICAP (70 & below)
 A step up in distance proved no hurdle for Umm Qarn’s Bint Amir (Amer x Hanoof) in the 1700m run on dirt on Wednesday. Alban Elie Marie de Mieulle’s charge had picked up her maiden victory over six furlongs last month. After following it up with a strong third two weeks ago, the 5-year-old had little trouble under Stephan Ladjadj to win with three and a half lengths to spare. 
Mohamed Salama Salim Ashour’s ward, Diljah Zakhir (Munahis x Marikitah), ridden by Marc Lerner in the silks of Zakhir Stud, improved well over her last outing with a second place finish, while Gerald Avranche helmed Khattab (Amer x Basilic D’Elios), trained by Zuhair Mohsen Zuhair Maki, completed the top three.

THOROUGHBRED GRADUATION PLATE (Class 5)
 With a C&D victory in the bag, and good form thereafter, Jassim Mohamed Ghazali Jahromi trained High Commander (Teofilo x Pellinore) was in the reckoning for a win in the 2000m race. 
Under Champion Jockey Harry Bentley, the 4-year-old did not disappoint. The colt, who had won in January this year, registered his second victory this season, crossing the line with a little under three lengths to spare. 
The Mansoor Ebrahim al-Mahmoud owned colt beat Hadi Nasser Rashid al-Ramzani trained King of Doha (Duke of Marmalade x Bibury), helmed by Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim, for the win, while Almotasem  al-Balushi guided Mohamed Riyaz Ibrahim Kasim trained Tea Leaf (Bushranger x Boston Ivy) to third place.

PUREBRED ARABIAN MAIDEN PLATE (4-6-year-old)
 Osama Omer al-Dafea had a one-two in the card’s opening race with Aziz’nafs (Munjiz x Nelka) shedding his maiden status on his 13th career outing. Ridden by Gerald Avranche, the 5-year-old showed no signs of stopping on the home straight as he registered a six length victory over a mile and a furlong with stablemate Baker de Saularie (Kerbella x Babiche De Saulari) finishing second under Almotasem al-Balushi. Aziz’nafs had shown promise on dirt ever since moving to Qatar earlier this season, notching up top five finishes each time, including on Wednesday. 
Hadi Nasser Rashid al-Ramzani schooled Ajs Al Moheeb (Amer x Gabie De Carrere) completed the top three under Tomas Lukasek.
