Scotland’s Fraser Cockburn edged out former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev to win the third edition of the Qatar Senior Open, which was held at the Doha Golf Club on Friday and Saturday. The third edition of the tournament is the first of its’ kind in the region for the Seniors Golfers and was attended by 143 players from Qatar and abroad.
Cockburn was able to score plus four after two days, just one point behind the Kapil Dev, who came in second place with a total score of plus five over the two days. Sweden’s Claes Byberg came in third place, with a total of plus six for the two days.
The competition was very strong and there were several players competing for the championship title. Fahad bin Nasser al-Naimi, General Secretary of the Qatar Golf Association, said that the tournament is being held for the third year in a row, with players from outside the country coming from Asian, Arab and European countries. 
Al-Naimi said that the championship is unique and is popular among golf championships in the region, where golfers over the age of 45 participate.
