Former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his wife visit the Partition Museum at Town Hall in Amritsar yesterday. The museum commemorates and documents the largest migration in history across borders in 1947. More than 14mn people migrated across the new borders of India and Pakistan in 1947 as they lost their loved ones and homes and were forced to rebuild their lives. They lived in camps and rudimentary shelters till they found alternative accommodation.
