Emir congratulates Pakistan’s president
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani sent yesterday cables of congratulations to Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain on his country’s National Day. HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani also sent a similar cable to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Hostage-taking in France condemned
Qatar has strongly condemned the hostage-taking of a shop in southern France and its unfortunate consequences that caused killing and injuring a number of people. In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Ministry expressed Qatar’s shock at this terrible crime and affirmed its solidarity with the French government and its support for all measures taken to maintain security and stability. It reiterated Qatar’s firm stance rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of motives and reasons. The Foreign Ministry expressed Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims, the government and the people of France, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
