Qatar, a pivotal state in the region, has a major role and tangible partnership with allied states in combating terrorism and drying up its sources, Director General of Public Security Staff Major General Saad bin Jassem al- Khulaifi said.
At a press conference held on the sidelines of Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (Dimdex 2018), he said organising the exhibition comes as part of promoting the defense and security capabilities of Qatar and the sisterly countries to combat terrorism and secure their maritime borders.
Al-Khulaifi highlighted the importance of Qatar's organising and hosting of the event which presents the latest technologies and innovations in the defence and maritime security sectors. He said it is a great opportunity for the Ministry of Interior to participate in and to be introduced to the latest in marine security.
"Participation is also important to reduce smuggling and protect borders and maritime assets, to ensure the safety of navigation and shipping, and other matters and tasks carried out by the Ministry of Interior," he said.
"Dimdex in its sixth edition, witnessed great development and large participation from major global companies specialised in the maritime defence field, including Barzan Holdings, which is the first Qatari company in the field of defence, security and military investments."
He said the Ministry of Interior is studying the company's products to be used in the security functions of the ministry.
The General Directorate of Coast and Border Security's pavilion is one of the biggest at the exhibition. The pavilion also exhibits some of the speedboats manufactured locally and by Qatari personnel.
