*Sheikh Mohamed conveys Emir's message to President Bashir

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani announced yesterday that Doha and Khartoum have agreed to form a committee for political consultations and the follow-up of joint projects.
He said that he had delivered a message dealing with bilateral relations and the ways to enhance them from His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.
This is the second message received by the Sudanese president from the Emir in less than two weeks. Sheikh Mohamed said that he had discussed with Sudanese officials the implications of the Darfur Peace Agreement signed in Doha in 2011, adding that he was happy that there was another armed group that wanted to join the peace deal.
Sheikh Mohamed, who is currently visiting Khartoum, met with the Sudanese Foreign Minister Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and means to support and promote them in addition to topics of mutual interest.They discussed regional developments in the Middle East and agreed to improve bilateral relations.
The Sudanese foreign minister said the political consultation committee of the two countries would meet every six months to discuss bilateral relations.
He also expressed his thanks to Qatar for its support to Sudan, saying that the Doha Peace Agreement was the road to achieve stability in Darfur. He described the visit of the Qatari minister as historic, which he affirmed would enhance relations of the two countries in all fields.
Sudanese foreign ministry official spokesman Ambassador Qareeb Alla al-Khidir, said the talks covered bilateral co-operation in the economic and political fields, and those related to peace and development in Darfur.
He said the two sides agreed to set up a committee for political consultation that would hold rotating meetings twice a year.
He added the talks also tackled developments at regional and international levels and ways of co-ordination and consultation over all issues of common interest.
