Education Excellence Day is an important event in Qatar as distinguished and outstanding students are honoured in various fields of education on this day, said HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi.
“It encourages those who have been honoured to continue to excel,” he said, adding that excellence has become a culture in the Qatari society as individuals and institutions each in their field seek to achieve excellence.
In a statement, HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment said that the celebration of distinguished Qataris is in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision in which human development is a pillar and seeks to create a society based on science, knowledge and continuous pursuit of economic, scientific and social development in the country.
He hailed the expansion of education excellence field for making more contributions in scientific research and improving academic standards. “The expansion will increase patents and launch ideas and initiatives that contribute to the scientific progress witnessed by the state at all levels.”
Dr Ibrahim al-Nuaimi, undersecretary at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said excellence has become a major part of the educational system in Qatar, pointing to the high appreciation given to the award in Qatar in order to achieve its vision and improve children education.
“Qatar granted an appropriate environment for excellence in all fields, which has made this goal an area of honest competition required to serve the country and contribute to its advancement and progress,” he added.
Fawzia Abdulaziz al-Khater, assistant undersecretary for educational affairs, said that the winners of this year’s Education Excellence Award have achieved many aspects of excellence and creativity, which proves that they follow sound path towards success that Qatar aspires to achieve.
“The Education Excellence Award is not only an award for an academic achievement, but an award that proves that excellence should be accompanied by strong will, continuous accuracy and seriousness in implementation,” she added.
Al-Khater added that the award has gone through several stages since its inception 11 year ago, making a great difference in each stage. (QNA)
