Qatar celebrated the 11th Education Excellence Day by honouring 64 winners in the nine different categories of the awards. The categories include master's level, bachelor's level, secondary level, outstanding student award for primary and preparatory levels, award for distinguished teachers and outstanding school and scientific research awards.
The award was launched in 2006 with six categories, where three additional categories were added over the years, ending with an excellence award for master's degree holders added in this edition.
The award aims to deepen the understanding of excellence and innovation through adopting global standards, to implement quality programmes and to achieve the comprehensiveness of individual and institutional efforts to improve the practical educational results in Qatar.
The award also aims to honour those educationally outstanding and celebrate them, to encourage all individuals and institutions to develop their performance, to promote the positive directions towards knowledge and scientific research.
It also aims to inspire the spirit of innovation in students, researchers and educational institutions, to stimulate the spirit of competition between individuals and educational institutions in the field of scientific excellence and to direct the individual and institutional energies towards educational excellence in the fields that achieve the developmental directives of the state.
In its 11th edition, the award contributed in making excellence a strategic and cultural role in the Qatari society, which is what the state sought to achieve through establishing an education system that complies with the highest standards of global educational systems and the requirements of the current time.
The state is building the latest technologies, educational and research programmes in the curricula and evaluation and training, which contributed to the development of the capabilities of students, helping them discover their creative potential, and enhancing the skills of scientific research in various disciplines.
The distinguished individuals in Qatar who are celebrated annually, represent an added value to the national Qatari competencies in different fields, which make Qatar an incubator for excellence and supportive of it, this is confirmed by the diversity of students, graduates, military officers, academics, researchers, schools and teaching staff.
Excellence comes as part of the wide educational choices provided by the state to its citizens, which proves the interest the wise leadership gives to their citizens. This achieves human development as the most important pillar in Qatar National Vision 2030.
In addition, the award has a great impact in spreading the culture of innovation and excellence in the Qatari society and encourages students to exert more effort for academic excellence and outstanding academic achievement.
The award is a result of exerted efforts from the family, school and community and works as a great encouragement for other candidates to participate in future editions and earn the honour to shake the hands of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, especially that education excellence is the state's project which aims to achieve its national vision through identifying strong prospects to sponsor it and to benefit from their services in serving the state's developmental directives.
