The lunch started with brief speech by the Indonesian ambassador, who also presented a momento the Thai ambassador and his wife.
In his speech, ambassador Basri conveyed his high appreciation and many thanks to all guests for coming together to bid farewell to a friend. “I congratulate you for a successful mission here in Qatar and I pray for success on your appointment as the ambassador in Sweden. I wish the best for you and your family in your future endeavours,” said the Indonesia envoy.
Then a sumptuous buffet was served to the guests as ambassadors from Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Tajikstan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, India, Iran, Philippines, Vietnam, and Sweden attended the lunch.
According to Indonesian embassy’s official Boy Dharmawan, Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum played an important role as Asean Community in Doha (ACD) Chairman during 2016-2017 period by exerting efforts to promote Asean solidarity amongst its members in Qatar and strengthening Asean-Qatar relationship. He was also successful in introducing more awareness about Asean in Qatar through different activities such as Asean food festival and trade and investment seminars.
