Five people were killed and five injured after an explosion and fire destroyed a small supermarket and a flat in the English city of Leicester late on Sunday.
Rescue work was suspended on Monday afternoon due to concerns over the possible collapse of a neighbouring building, but the work would resume later, police and fire services said.
Five people were confirmed dead and five others were taken to hospital, including one in critical condition, they said.
"We believe there may be people who have not yet been accounted for and rescue efforts continue in order to locate any further casualties," said Superintendent Shane O'Neill of Leicestershire Police.
"Although the cause of the explosion is not yet known, there is no evidence that this is linked to terrorism," O'Neill said.
Matt Cane of Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said it could take several days to establish the probable cause of the explosion.
"There are still pockets of fire in the basement area of the building," Cane said.
He said search and rescue teams, supported by two search dogs, would continue working at the site throughout Monday.
