The regular Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, yesterday reviewed the adoption of measures to pass a draft law on the national system of Accounting for and Control of Nuclear Materials.
Earlier, the cabinet reviewed the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the draft law.
Giving details of the meeting, which took place at the Emiri Diwan, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi stated that the draft law stipulates that the National Committee for the Prohibition of Weapons (NCPW) shall undertake the Accounting for and Control of Nuclear Materials whether they are used or produced for in all activities, including research.
The draft law defined the terms of reference of the committee and the obligations of facilities and authorities that use nuclear materials.
The Cabinet also reviewed the adoption of the measures to issue a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 8 of 2008 on consumer protection after reviewing the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the draft law.
The adoption of the measures for the ratification of a memorandum of understanding establishing a joint supreme committee between the governments of Qatar and Thailand were also reviewed in the meeting.
The Cabinet reviewed the approval of a draft resolution to amend some of the provisions of Decree No 42 of 2013 regarding the expropriation of some properties for public benefit.
The Cabinet also reviewed the letter of the minister of municipality and environment on the ministry’s views on a draft decree allocating some of the lands to Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation to establish a solar power plant.
The Cabinet then took the appropriate decision.
