Qatar’s Abdullah al-Tamimi has made it to the semi-finals of the Canada Cup 2018 in Toronto.
Al-Tamimi, seeded seventh in the championships, beat top seed Diego Elias from Peru. Al-Tamimi won the quarter-final 3-1 (11-5, 4-11, 11-8, 11-3). 
In the semi-finals, al-Tamimi will face sixth seed Max Lee of Hong Kong.
After his quarter-final win, al-Tamimi said that he was happy after his precious win which gave him a boost in quest to continue winning in the championships, as his competitor was not easy.
For his part, Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation’s (QTSBF) Khalid al-Khelaifi congratulated al-Tamimi for this win, adding that he was confident of the Qatari player putting up his best performance and achieving the desired goal.
Al-Khelaifi stressed that all members of the federation are behind the Qatari player and support him to achieve his goals that would enhance his professional career and the status of Qatar sports in the regional and international arena.
The total prize for the Canadian Open Squash Championships is $50,000.
