Qatar’s pavilion at the special edition of the trade fair of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in Kuwait has attracted “great interest” from visitors, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) said Thursday.
The pavilion, organised by the MEC, brings together representatives of the Qatar Chamber, the Qatar Financial Center and the Economic Zones Company (Manateq) along with executives from 13 Qatari private companies.
The Ministry’s participation in the ongoing exhibition comes within the framework of its efforts to showcase the investment opportunities in Qatar and highlight the State’s business and investment-friendly climate.
The Ministry said it is also seeking to enhance the capacity of national companies and factories and to support national products in line with its efforts to promote economic development and accomplish the Qatar National Vision 2030.
During the exhibition, the MEC will provide a detailed explanation of the laws and regulations governing investments in Qatar as well as the incentives and advantages offered to investors. Officials from the Ministry will hold meetings with businessmen and potential investors to familiarise them with investment opportunities in Qatar and efforts for the development of a safe investment environment.
Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company CEO Abdurrahman Abdullah al-Ansari said, “We believe that the Kuwaiti market is key in terms of our import and export activity. We are currently presenting our various high quality products in a bid to access the Kuwaiti market. Through this participation, we are also seeking new sources to import raw materials directly to our factories,” he added.
QIMC is a local joint stock company comprising 20 different factories in various sectors such as construction materials, infrastructure, petrochemicals and food.
Saeed Abdullah al-Tawa al-Hajeri, chairman, Al Ikhtyaar German Upvc Windows & Doors, noted that through his participation in the exhibition he aims at promoting and introducing Qatari products to participants.
Al-Hajeri praised the facilities the Ministry offered to enable local companies to showcase their products at the exhibition.
Dr Ahmed bin Mohamed al-Sulaiti, chairman, Qatar Pharma Factory, said his company’s participation in the exhibition was aimed at presenting new products that have yet to be exported to Kuwait, highlighting the company’s ownership of patents for products such as Biohair among others.
Shaker al-Ansari, general manager, Doha Plastic Company, said his participation in the exhibition is in line with the company’s policy of introducing and opening up new international markets for Qatari products.
Mohamed Maher, Foreign Exhibitions Officer at Asak Group, said, “We are participating in the exhibition to present Mona Food Products, which produces a range of Qatari products.
Bahaa Dandashi, executive director, Trust Electronics, said he is seeking distributors and agents through his participation in the exhibition.
Faraj Moftah Aman al-Hamad, general manager, Bin Aman Plastic Industries, which established its factory in 2016, said through his participation in the exhibition he aims at introducing and opening up new markets for Qatari industries which have demonstrated their success.
Ashraf Hassan, chief operating officer, Agrico, said that the company is featuring in the exhibition due to their role in the development of agricultural products and meat production.
