The Qatari Emiri Navy kicked off the “Sea Waves 13” exercise, in co-operation with Qatar Petroleum.
Forces from the Emiri Navy and its main branches, the Emiri Air Force, the Joint Special Forces, the Emiri Signal Corps and Information Technology and the General Directorate of Coast and Border Security are taking part in the exercise, which will continue till February 24.
The Directorate of Moral Guidance of the Ministry of Defence said in a statement that this exercise aims to train leaderships on assessment of the situation, planning, commanding and control, as well as training the General Staff of officers and other ranks on the implementation of operation management in order to enhance the combat efficiency of the Emiri Navy and other units.
Brigadier Rashid Shaheen al-Ateeq, Commander of the “Sea Waves 13” exercise, stressed the importance of the exercise for the Navy. He explained that based on the changes that have taken place in the region in general and in Qatar in particular, some additional stages have been added in order to make the exercise more realistic.
