HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has met the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres in New York. They discussed means of enhancing co-operation between Qatar and the United Nations in areas of mutual
interest, and reviewed the latest regional and international
developments. HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister briefed
the UN secretary-general on the illegal measures taken against Qatar by
the siege countries, their grave consequences for regional and international security and peace and their impact on human rights. He
referred to the recent report of the Office of the High Commissioner for
Human Rights which described the measures taken by the siege countries
as arbitrary and affecting human rights. He praised the great role
played by UN organisations in the establishment of public rights and
justice and stability. During the meeting, HE Sheikh Mohamed bin
Abdulrahman al-Thani also reviewed the messages of Qatar which alerted
the Security Council and the UN secretary-general to violations of
Qatar’s airspace by the UAE. The meeting was attended by HE the
Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha Alia
Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani.
