Kuwait’s Abdullah al-Muzayen defeated Iran’s Soheil Shameli 3-0 to enter the semi-finals of the Qatar Circuit No 6 Squash Tournament yesterday.
At the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, the Asian champion from Kuwait took 25 minutes to beat the qualifier from Iran 11-4, 11-3, 11-4.
On the opening day, al-Muzayen had dumped the fifth seed Sean Conroy of Ireland in three games, while Shameli stunned the third seed Enzo Corigano of France in four games.
Top-seed Iker Pajares Bernabeu from Spain, who defeated Qatar’s Abdulla al-Tamimi to win Qatar Circuit No 5 last month, also entered the last four stage defeating England’s Robert Downer 11-6, 11-6, 11-8.
The Junior British Open runner-sup and second seed Abhay Singh from India won his quarter-final tie against Qatar’s Umair Zaman 11-7, 11-7, 12-10. The seventh seed Yannik Omlor of Germany’s defeated the fourth seed Syed Azlan Amjad of Qatar 12-10, 11-5, 11-2 in 32 minutes to advance.
