Qatar Duty Free (QDF) has opened its second Harrods signature store at Hamad International Airport (HIA).
According to QDF, this expansion "will bring travellers an enhanced product range in a luxurious new shopping environment fitting of two iconic destinations, Harrods and HIA".
The second boutique at HIA features a "range of carefully selected items, including timeless favourites such as Harrods bags, wallets, accessories and food gifting".
Harrods gifting products, such as the iconic Harrods shopping bags and the renowned Harrods bear, are famous across the world.
The gifting items give customers a chance to take a piece of the brand away with them to cherish as a permanent memento, QDF said.
“Harrods is one of the world’s most iconic luxury retailers and our first store at HIA has been hugely popular among passengers travelling through the award-winning airport,” QDF head Thabet Musleh said.
“This is why we decided to open an even bigger branch to give travellers more choice and an enhanced product range of luxury items. By opening our second Harrods store, we will continue to provide travellers with one of the most desirable luxury shopping experiences at QDF,” Musleh stressed.
Harrods managing director Michael Ward said Harrods is delighted to be expanding its offering at HIA, which he described as one of the most impressive airports in the world.
“We look forward to showcasing our much-loved Harrods products to the millions of passengers that are set to pass through this year,” he noted.
As one of the largest duty-free retailers in the world, QDF boasts of more than 90 boutiques and luxury, high-end stores, as well as more than 30 restaurants and cafés covering an area of 40,000sqm at HIA in Doha.
Luxury brands available at the five-star airport include Bulgari, Hermès, Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Mont Blanc, Rolex and Chanel.
HIA, the home of QDF, achieved a number of milestones in 2017, including being classified as a five-star airport by Skytrax, making it one of only five other airports in the world to achieve this status.
