It is a riot of colours at Al Mazrouah yard for agricultural and farm produce, where a flower market opened under the auspices of the Department of Agricultural Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.

The three-day market will move on January 18 to Al Khor and Al Thakira yard and on January 25 to Al Wakra yard, for three days each. The markets are organised in association with the Department of Public Parks.

Thursday's opening ceremony was attended by the Department of Agricultural Affairs director Khalid Yousef al-Khulaifi and agricultural yards general supervisor Abdul Rahman al-Sulaiti, in addition to a number of farm owners, representatives of participating companies and visitors.

Speaking on the occasion, al-Khulaifi stressed that the flowers on display are local products of high quality and that the goal of the event is to market the farms and their various products.

“Majority of the flowers displayed are the seasonal types, which are used in the decoration of streets, parks and public facilities as well as in bouquets,” he said.

The event also aims to attract new crowds to the farms and encourage citizens to decorate their houses and farms, in addition to promoting the different types of flowers. Al-Khulaifi also added that the previous event attracted a substantial crowd.
