The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said no cases of bird flu have been registered in Qatar.

The ministry said bird flu is closely and continuously monitored by the National Influenza Centre, which periodically scans samples to monitor the types of viruses and to detect their strains and epidemiological patterns.
The ministry's food safety and environmental health departments follow up the epidemiological situation of animal health in all countries in co-operation with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, and through the certified animal disease surveillance network.
It is also issuing a list banning the import of any foodstuffs from areas affected by bird flu.
Qatar's poultry sector is free from high intensity bird flu, as periodic surveys are being carried out.
Besides, careful monitoring of border crossings and sampling for analysis are done to verify safety.
Bird flu is caused by a virulent virus that is transmitted among birds, but its transmission from birds to humans occurs only in rare conditions among people who have direct contact with infected poultry.
