A series of lectures and seminars on Information and Digital Technology (IDT) highlighted the 5th Katara Tech Forum, held at Katara – the Cultural Village’s Drama Theatre on Wednesday.
The event, which serves as a platform to raise public awareness on the latest advancements in IDT, was attended by Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, IT Department director Thamer al-Qadi, dignitaries and guests. 
In a seminar, Walid Jalal presented government services in Qatar while Nawras Deyaa tackled web and user experience portals in his lecture.
A review of the Epilert project was conducted by Firas Rahim, explaining the new ‘Epilert Wristband.’ 
The gadget, which provides medical care report to doctors, was created to decrease the risk of personal injury or possible injuries to others by an epilepsy patient caused by the loss of control or awareness of his or her body.
Abdelaziz al-Anani and Abdullah Taha conducted a lecture about “Thaqafa Podcast Project,” a live-station that provides the listener with various Arabic audio content from poetry, history and stories.
The forum also featured a mobile phone charging project by Rabaa Ahmed, a unique and environment-friendly way of charging mobile phones by walking. 
Participants distributed flyers and brochures at their kiosks to promote and showcase their unique projects at the event.
“The forum sheds light on the fruitful co-operation with institutions, government bodies and various sectors in Qatar aimed at creating an ideal environment in which all factors of creativity and innovation fall under one ambience,” Dr al-Sulaiti said.
In line with the goals of Qatar’s National Vision 2030, Katara wants to attract experts and specialists to present their experiences at the forum, which will help develop various sectors within the IT field. 
“We hope that our efforts will culminate in finding better means to make our world cope with the rapid and unprecedented technological revolution today,” Dr al-Sulaiti said, as he expressed optimism that “this forum will offer real opportunities for Qatari youths as they march towards the future equipped with knowledge and hope.”
