Fresh poultry products in Qatar, which are offered at reasonable prices at the 2nd Mahaseel (crops) Festival, have been attracting many residents and visitors. Mahaseel, which concludes today at the southern area of Katara–the Cultural Village, also features fresh vegetable produce and the finest meat and dairy products.
The chickens and quails are slaughtered, cleaned, packaged and brought directly from the farm to the stalls at Katara daily, according to organisers. Adba farm supervisor Mohamed Maher said poultry farming takes place in Umm Al Qarn using innovative methods in “an open and natural atmosphere,” away from any hormonal treatments. “The festival is witnessing successive developments to contribute to the needs of the local market of white meat and eggs, and under the control of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment,” he added.
A large number of visitors throng the festival, which features a combination of shopping, education and entertainment shows daily, including cultural activities. Ambassadors Metin Kazak (Bulgaria) and Pasquale Salzano (Italy), who toured the stalls at Mahaseel with Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, cited the high-quality products showcased at the event. Locally-produced honey at various stalls also attracted many shoppers since the opening of the festival, it is learnt.
