It is expected to get cooler in the country as the Qatar Met department has said northerly winds in the coming days will be accompanied by a drop in temperature, which will return to their average levels for this time of the year.
The minimum temperature is expected to drop below 10C in the southern areas while settled weather will prevail in general during the weekend, the weather report states. The Met department has also said fresh to strong northwesterly winds are likely to affect the country today. The wind speed will range from 12-22 knots inshore, gusting to 30 knots at times, and this will result in blowing dust and low visibility – which may drop below 3km in some areas. Also, marine warnings will be in effect until early tomorrow and the wave height is expected to range from 5-7ft, reaching 9ft at times in some areas. The Met department has urged people to be cautious and avoid going to sea during the warning period.
The average maximum temperature in Doha during December is 24.4C, while the minimum is 15.6C. After dropping for some time, the mercury level had increased to 30C and above in some places over the past few days. A minimum of 18C was recorded in Doha yesterday while the maximum was 30C.
