Doha
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will close one direction of the service road leading from Al Luqta Street to Al Beday Street from Wednesday.
The proposed closure, which covers a distance of 500m and will be in place for a year and a half, is being carried out to enable construction and utility works in the area. It has been designed in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, Ashghal has said in a statement.
During the closure period, road users travelling eastbound from Al Luqta Street and wishing to enter Al Beday Street will be required to continue straight on Al Luqta Street and turn right on to Uhud Street, take another right on to Al Muhajereen Street and then turn left to Badr Street to exit towards Al Beday Street (as shown on the map).
Ashghal has said it will make provisions for a U-turn at the point of closure on the service road to allow residents and users of the local roads to reach Uhud Street and follow the diverted route to exit to Al Beday Street.
The authority will instal road signs advising motorists of the closure.
Ashghal has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
