As part of a series of road openings implemented to coincide with the National Day celebrations, a loop leading from Khalifa Street to Onaiza Street (also known as Istiqlal Street) was opened on Wednesday.

Ashghal's Doha Projects Section head Mohamed Arqoub al-Khaldi said the new bridge, which is located near the Imam Mohamed bin Abdulwahab Mosque, will facilitate access from the TV Intersection and Khalifa Street to Qatar Sports Club Intersection through Onaiza Street.
It will also facilitate access for those coming from Onaiza Street towards Al Corniche and West Bay Area through Khalifa Street. This will enhance traffic flow and reduce travel times on these intersections, especially at peak times.
Al Khaldi also informed that Ashghal opened the loop leading from Onaiza Street to Khalifa Street last September and with the completion of the new loop, traffic movement on this intersection is now open in both directions.
Works also include installing street lighting and providing a storm water drainage network. Currently, landscaping works are being implemented and are expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year.
The opening of this loop is part of a project to develop Khalifa Street and convert TV Roundabout into a signal controlled intersection.
