Made in Qatar products have sharply increased after the siege was imposed on the country, Doha-resident Khaleeq Ahmad Sheikh told Qatar Urdu Radio’s live show Haqeeqat yesterday.
“Many people have taken initiatives to produce all kinds of products, be it dairy items, vegetables or materials used in the construction sector,” Sheikh said.
He shared that although Qatar had a strong business and industrial sector prior to the siege as well, there was a strong sentiment among the people to not depend on any country for a single product.
Sheikh, who has been working in the printing and advertising industry for a long time, said that Qatar’s success lies in its self-sufficiency plans and entrepreneurial drive of its people.
“There has definitely been an uptick in the business sector as more and more people are coming forward to establish business in all sectors. And that’s because everyone feels strongly about Qatar’s drive towards self-sufficiency.”
Haqeeqat, which aims to engage and interact with the large South Asian expatriate community in Qatar, is a joint venture of Gulf Times and Qatar Media Corp Urdu Radio. The show is hosted by Saif-ur-Rehman.
