The Qatar Met department has warned that strong winds will blow in most parts of the country on Friday and poor visibility is also expected in some places due to dust.

In offshore areas, too, strong winds have been forecast for Friday along with high seas.

On Wednesday, the weather office had said windy conditions would prevail in the country from Friday until Sunday. Temperatures are also likely to drop around the country over the weekend.

Northwesterly winds will blow at 15-25 knots inshore Friday, reaching a high of 32 knots in some places at times. Offshore, the wind speed (northwesterly) will be 18-28 knots, going up to 35 knots in some areas.

The detailed forecast says scattered clouds are likely in inshore areas along with a weak chance of light rain towards the north in the early hours of the day. Slight to blowing dust is also expected in some places, and it will be relatively cold by night.

Further, the weather report says partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are expected offshore along with slight dust. There is also a chance of rain, which may be thundery in some areas occasionally.

Visibility may drop to 2km or less in some places, while the sea level will rise to 12ft at times.

The minimum temperature for Friday is expected to be 10C in Abu Samra, 12C in Al Khor and Dukhan, 14C in Wakrah and Mesaieed, 15C in Ruwais and 17C in Doha.

Thursday, the mercury level dipped to 10C in Abu Samra and 11C in Karana, while in Doha it was 18C.
