His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has sent a cable of congratulations to King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand on the occasion of his country’s National Day.
His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani has also sent a similar cable to King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand on his country’s National Day.

Ministry marks Qatar Statistics Day today
The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics will mark today as the Qatari Statistics Day, which aims at raising the awareness of society about the importance of relying on statistics in daily life in general. The celebration, which falls on December 6 each year, also emphasises the importance of statistics in policy formulation and monitoring progress of the national development strategy to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.

Defence Ministry to participate in Darb Al Saai celebrations
The Ministry of Defence is participating for the first time in the celebrations to be held at Darb Al Saai marking Qatar’s National Day with a special pavilion. The Ministry’s participation is to be held under the title ‘Defence Camp’. In a statement today, Director of the Directorate of Moral Guidance at the Ministry of Defence Lt Col Nawaf bin Mubarak bin Saif al-Thani called on the public to visit the pavilion and participate in various events to be held from 9 to 20 December.
The events will be held on a daily basis from 7am until 12 noon and in the evening from 3pm to 10pm, except on Friday from 2pm to 11pm. All Qatari armed forces will participate in the activities.

5,755 imported farm shipments inspected in November
QNA/Doha
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s agricultural quarantine offices have inspected 5,755 imported shipments, weighing more than 75,935 tonnes from different types of agricultural consignments, plant products and production inputs in November across the different customs points.
The quarantine offices destroyed 50 shipments weighing more than 62 tonnes for violating the agricultural quarantine law and for certain damages.
The agricultural quarantine is the first line of defence for protection from agricultural infections.
The preventive procedure aims to protect the country’s agricultural wealth from foreign pests. It also requires that all plants, agricultural products and any other materials shall be subject to phytosanitary regulations to ensure that they conform with specifications.

Ministry workshop on  vaccination side effects

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) trained a number of health practitioners on vaccination services and supervising the side effects of it.
This took place at a workshop organised by MoPH which aims to develop the skills and strengthen the capabilities of health facilities in the private and public sectors to detect and report the side effects of vaccinations as they occur and minimises these effects.
The ministry’s director of Public Health Department, Sheikh Dr Mohamed bin Hamad al-Thani, confirmed the ministry’s continuous efforts to develop the quality of health services including the vaccination provided to the residents and citizens of Qatar.
He referred to the ministry’s keenness to provide continuous training to the healthcare personnel in Qatar in the private and public sector, mentioning the benefits of this workshop to its attendees.
For her part, the ministry’s head of vaccination, Dr Soha al-Bayat, said the ministry’s national programme for vaccinations aims to develop the skills and knowledge of the health practitioners working in vaccination services in the private and public sectors.
