With victory in the penultimate race of the day, Rassan stayed unbeaten, having won the Owners Cup three weeks ago

Hadi Nasser al-Ramzani’s ward Karraar topped the Al Khor Cup, yesterday’s feature at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, even as Champion Jockey Harry Bentley starred with four victories on the day. Karraar’s victory in the 1900m Thoroughbred conditions event was second on the day for owner Mohanad al-Yaqout, who had MJ Lattam in the winner’s enclosure earlier in the day under Faleh Bughanaim in the six-furlong Purebred Arabian Graduation Plate event.
The two top-rated horses in the race, Karraar and Third Dimension (both rated 105) locked out the top two spots, as Alberto Sanna-ridden gelding edged out Champion Trainer Jassim Ghazali’s ward Third Dimension by only a neck as Bentley narrowly missed out on his fifth victory.
Ghazali, however, had two winners on the day with Jassim bin Ali al-Attiyah’s Rassan winning the penultimate race of the day, a Local Purebred Arabian Conditions event over 1700m, while Injaaz Stud’s Messine De Sinuhe picking up his second victory this season in the nine furlong Purebred Arabian Conditions event.
Bentley rode both these winners, besides two others trained by Ghazali’s son Mohamed.
Injaaz Stud-owned Ventura Shadow beat Abdullah Mohammed al-Kuwari Sons-owned River Goddess by a length in the Class 5 Thoroughbred Handicap event for horses rated 75 and below, after Khalifa bin Sheail al-Kuwari-owned Ghalaad shed his maiden status in the opening race of the day.
With the victory in the penultimate race of the day, Rassan stayed unbeaten, having won the Owners Cup three weeks ago.
In the Class 3 Thoroughbred Handicap event for horses rated 75-95, Zuhair Mohsen-trained Pearl Bridge beat Ghazali Senior’s duo, Generalship and Emaad, with a ride from Marvin Suerland in the colours of Al Murqab Stud.
Earlier in the day, Majed Seifeddine’s Al Ajdal shed his maiden status winning the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate event.
