Qatar Chamber vice-chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari and the director of Personnel Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Kenya discussing ways to enhance cooperation ties in the fields of investment at the Chamber’s headquarters in Doha yesterday.

Qatar Chamber held a meeting in Doha yesterday with a delegation from the Republic of Kenya led by the director of Personnel Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Kenya to discuss ways to enhance cooperation ties in the fields of investment.
Qatar Chamber vice-chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari said Kenyan manpower is “highly efficient,” especially in the construction, hospitality, and security sectors. He also expressed the chamber’s “readiness to cooperate fully,” and to provide all necessary information to facilitate the recruitment of local employment companies for Kenyan labour.
“Qatari businessmen are interested in learning about the investment opportunities and the markets available in Kenya,” he said, referring to coordination with the Kenyan side to organise a business trip to explore a number of sectors in Kenya.  “The 2,400-strong Kenyan community in Qatar is trained and qualified to work in the Qatari market,” said Washington Oulu, referring to the government’s efforts in developing the skills of workers to work abroad. He pointed out that the Kenyan government has adopted a number of Kenyan employment agencies registered and controlled by them, which Qatari recruitment companies can deal with when bringing Kenyan workers to Qatar.
He added that Kenya is one of the “ideal countries” for business in Africa due to the diversity of opportunities offered by its geographic location on the continent.
In 2014, Qatar and Kenya signed seven cooperation agreements in the areas of economic and trade cooperation, including a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Chamber and Kenyan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
