The stadium will be the first ever demountable and reusable stadium in the history of FIFA World Cup.
“We feel proud of the innovation and unique projects Qatar always initiates. They are once again creating history in FIFA with the Ras Abu Aboud Stadium,” he said.
The venue will be constructed using shipping containers, removable seats and other modular building blocks and it will be entirely dismantled and repurposed after the World Cup.
The 40,000-seat venue is situated southeast of Doha and 1.5km from the Hamad International Airport. It will be connected to the rest of country via Qatar Rail’s Gold Line and a water taxi stop, host of the show Saif-ur-Rehman informed listeners.
Haqeeqat, which aims to engage and interact with the large South Asian expatriate community in Qatar, is a joint venture of the Gulf Times and Qatar Media Corp Urdu Radio. It is broadcast from Sunday to Thursday on FM107.
