Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has announced that it is the lead sponsor of the ‘Euromoney Qatar Conference 2017’ hosted by the Qatar Central Bank on December 5 and 6 in Doha.
This year’s edition welcomes several government officials, senior economists and bankers from across the region, as well as international delegations. Keynote speakers include HE the Minister of Finance Ali Sherif al-Emadi; HE the Governor of Qatar Central Bank Sheikh Abdulla bin Saoud al-Thani; Independent Online principal economic commentator Hamish McRae, and Sarkis Yoghourtdjian, adviser at the Banking Supervision and Regulation of the Board of Governors at the Federal Reserve System.
The event will examine the global economic outlook, Qatar’s economy, and the various opportunities and challenges that face the international investment community. In addition, the conference will discuss the need for digital growth innovation, the financial system cybersecurity, and how fintech is becoming of increasing importance to Qatar and the wider Mena region.

QIB chief financial officer Gourang Hemani will participate in a panel discussion titled ‘Qatar’s Economy’, which will cover several topics related to the forecasts for Qatar’s economy in 2017 and beyond, including how lower hydrocarbon prices have affected the region and the outlook for the country’s infrastructure programme as part of Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
“The Euromoney conference will reinforce productive dialogue, especially one that focuses on the future and the challenges of the national economy, the future direction of hydrocarbon demand, and the importance of having a strong and innovative financial system,” added Gamal.
