The participants in the Major Event Safety and Security Conference, currently in session in Doha, stressed the importance of convening this international forum, the first of its kind in the world, to discuss the threats and challenges facing the host countries of various events, including sporting events.
In statements on the sidelines of the conference, the participants hailed the efforts made by Qatar at various levels to host the 2022 World Cup, as well as opening up prospects for the countries of the world to take advantage of the best experiences in this area.
For his part, Somalian Interior Minister Muhammed Aboobacker Oslo said that this world congress is important for sharing experiences and strengthen partnerships.
Interpol for Europe vice president Alexander Prokopchuk expressed his admiration for the remarkable organisation of the conference, which reflects the high professionalism of the organisers and the great capabilities of the host country.
He pointed out that it is important that experts meet under one roof to share their views and experiences, an opportunity to review their actual experiences.
“This conference is important especially since the world is close to the 2018 World Cup in Moscow and the various Russian cities, in addition to preparations by Qatar to host the World Cup in 2022.”
He stressed the importance of exchanging information and experiences to secure events, protect fans and provide the appropriate environment for the enjoyment of major sporting events.
Italy’s Assistant Director-General of Public Security said that the conference is held under the complicated circumstances of the terrorist threats that the world is suffering from and aspires to combat. She expressed hope that the conference will achieve results that help international efforts to combat crimes and all kinds of threats.
Deputy Minister of Interior of Azerbaijan Zalov Oruj expressed his happiness to visit Qatar and participate in the first Major Event Safety and Security Conference. He expressed his confidence in the success of the 2022 World Cup.
French national gendarmerie chief General said that the security relationship between France and Qatar is very old and deep and it includes many aspects of security work, such as training, exchange of experiences and the use of expertise in the field of modern technology. He explained that the French delegation at the conference will present his country’s experience in hosting the 2016 European Nations Cup, which witnessed the first use of the drone in the security work, which played a large role in monitoring the crowd’s movements and estimates its numbers.
