Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock has said the international police organisation is confident of Qatar's ability to effectively manage and organise the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

While replying to queries from journalists, Stock explained in Doha that recent records, statistics and all other relevant documents made available from acclaimed bodies and institutions have revealed that Qatar is capable of handling any major job assigned to it.

The top official said Interpol and Qatar have been working closely since the 81st Assembly in Rome in 2012 and the establishment of a Centre for Excellence by Qatar in association with the Interpol is expected to contribute considerably to such issues as safety, and security during the hosting of major events.
