Fifty One East has celebrated for the first time in Doha a fashion and trunk show showcasing internationally-recognised Marchesa’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection, inspired by explorer Aimee Crocker and her travels to Japan.
The popular New York-based fashion house specialises in luxury womenswear, with founding British designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig creating a popular lifestyle brand over the past 12 years, including eveningwear, Marchesa Notte and Notte Bridal, handbags and shoes, as well as collections of both fine and fashion jewellery, according to a press statement.
Customers may recognise Marchesa from A-list Hollywood celebrities such as Penélope Cruz, Blake Lively, Cameron Diaz, Selena Gomez, Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, and Emma Watson.
Marchesa co-founder Craig made her debut in Qatar with a fashion show followed by a two-day trunk show at the luxury department store at Lagoona Mall, Fifty One East, and attended by Qatar’s fashion elite.
The Spring/Summer 2018 collection is a look inside the Far East, specifically a glance at Japan.
With an affinity for pearls, snakes and eccentric art, Aimee Crocker’s wanderlust transported her to a world filled with lavish collections of fine materials.
Guests were awed by floor-sweeping gowns with billowing kimono sleeves, strands of multi-layered necklaces, and golden leaf threadwork during the fashion show, reminiscent of the pearl divers of the Far East.
Marchesa’s bridal collection focuses on fantasy, romance and ethereal beauty, and the Spring/Summer 2018 collection is no less than a fairy tale with dreamy and romantic designs.
Craig said: “Qatar is an important retail destination for Marchesa and we are thrilled to be showcasing our new collection here for the first time.”
“We would like to thank Fifty One East for this opportunity and for its support, as a perfect destination for our collection that mirrors our own collections; dynamic, feminine and fashion-forward,” the designers added.
“We look forward to continue designing for strong, confident women who aren’t afraid to take risks, which we’ve seen in abundance here in Qatar.”
