For the first time, expatriate communities will participate in the Qatar National Day celebrations at Darb Al Saai by showcasing their cultures and traditions.
The National Day organising committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an introductory meeting with more than 60 ambassadors and representatives of embassies in Qatar and briefed them about the new activity.
The decision to include residents from different countries in the Qatar National Day celebrations at Darb Al Saai reflects the pride expressed by His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in citizens and residents during his historic speech at United Nations recently.
The meeting with ambassadors and representatives of embassies was attended by HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali, who is also the head of the National Day organising committee.
"These activities take a special importance because it highlights the unity between expats and Qataris," he said while stressing the keenness of Qatar to show positive contributions of expats in the light of strong relations which binds Qatar with other brotherly and friendly countries.
The new activity has been named 'Masirat Al Sadaqah' (Journey of Friendship) and represents the environment and historical context of solidarity between Qataris and expats.
"The blockade against Qatar has increased the solidarity and unity between citizens and residents," the minister pointed out.
He also emphasised the importance of the presence of the youth to benefit from the activities at Darb Al Saai.
The ambassadors and embassies’ representatives welcomed the idea of the special activity and stressed that they will invite their communities to participate in the Qatar National Day celebrations.
