Ooredoo announced on Tuesday that it has successfully upgraded its network sites in areas of the desert in time for the 2017 camping season.
The updates, which have introduced the latest Cat 16 technology to the network sites, will enable campers and visitors in the desert the chance to connect to 4.5G speeds.
Ooredoo is the first operator to meet this milestone in Qatar and has invested significantly in ensuring this upgrade is available for customers this camping season, to guarantee a smooth connection and great experience.
With speeds up to 1Gbps, Ooredoo customers will be able to download an MP3 file of 3MB in less than a second, a 950MB HD TV episode in eight seconds, and a 15GB Blu-Ray movie in two minutes.
To ensure that everyone can take advantage of these speeds, Ooredoo has advised customers to invest in devices that support Cat 16 technology, such as the new LTE Mobile Router – the Nighthawk MR 1100 Mobile Router, which is available at Ooredoo Shops and on the eShop.
The new Netgear and Ooredoo device has been designed to be the best mobile broadband device ever, and on top of the ability to deliver incredible download speeds of up to 1Gbps, and upload speeds up to 150Mbps, the Nighthawk MR 1100 Mobile Router can connect up to 20 Wi-Fi enabled devices at a time (the largest number ever for an Ooredoo Mobile Broadband device).
Manar Khalifa al-Muraikhi, director, PR and corporate communications, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We are continuing to invest in the Ooredoo Supernet to provide the best possible network experience for our customers. We listened to their feedback and know that with the camping season approaching, enabling high-speeds in popular areas such as the inland sea was a priority.”
