Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska, takes part in the Rolling Thunder motorcycle ride to honour US veterans, in Washington on Sunday. Palin launched a nationwide bus tour that could be a prelude to a 2012 presidential run. The 2008 Republican running mate has since closely associated herself with the Tea Party movement within the conservative party.
