The ‘Qatar-Malaysia Economic Forum’ held yesterday in Kuala Lumpur provided a platform for bolstering trade, economic, and investment relations between Qatar and Malaysia and created partnership opportunities in various fields for the private sector of both the countries, according to HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani.
The event brought together more than 300 senior Qatari and Malaysian government officials, CEOs, investors, businessmen, economic committees and experts. It featured bilateral meetings between Qatari and Malaysian businessmen who reviewed investment opportunities in both the countries and opportunities to establish joint ventures.
The forum’s workshops touched on strengthening and expanding bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries and discussed opportunities for joint ventures and investment. 
Speaking on the sidelines of the forum, Sheikh Ahmed said the event provided an important platform to strengthen trade, economic and investment relations between Qatar and Malaysia and created partnership opportunities in various fields for the private sectors of both the countries.
He also underscored the friendly Qatari-Malaysian ties, which he said represented an important platform to develop successful economic and trade partnerships that will benefit the economies of both countries and bolster their development.
The minister stressed the importance of outlining effective mechanisms and plans that align with Qatari-Malaysian investment objectives, and provide an opportunity for the development of successful projects in the interest of both the countries and their peoples. 
Sheikh Ahmed added that Qatar represents an attractive destination for foreign investments thanks to its well-planned economic policies that have contributed to the development of a promising investment environment supported by a business-friendly legislative and administrative framework. 
Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, who signed agreements with the Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia president Rizal Faris bin Mohideen Abdul Kader, said: “The political and economic relations between Qatar and Malaysia have gathered real momentum in recent years as the two countries are important trade 
partners.”
