The Organizing Committee yesterday launched the upcoming TEDxAlDafnaED conference and provided details of the event that is scheduled to be held on November 11.
The conference is the “first of its kind in the GCC region”. Details of the conference were outlined by QU Student Services and Activities director Abdulla al-Yafei, Qatar Foundation (QF)’s head of Press Office Khalifa al-Kubaisi, Ibtkar for Visual Creativity CEO Mohamed al-Marri, TEDxAlDafnaED project manager and student Mohamed Khader, TEDxAlDafnaED external relations manager and student Jaber Abu-Humaid, and TEDxAlDafnaED Operations manager and student Anas Rasras.
It is being held by the organizing committee in collaboration with Qatar University (organising partner) in collaboration with QF (educational partner), Ibtkar for Visual Creativity (golden sponsor), Teach for Qatar, Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and World Innovation Summit for Education (knowledge partners), and the Public Works Authority – Ashghal (bronze sponsor).
The conference is designed to provide a platform for university students, educators and experts to discuss education-related issues, exchange ideas on the future of education and provide efficient solutions to enhance the education system at the local and regional levels, the statement notes.
“As an organizing partner to TEDxAlDAfnaED, Qatar University demonstrates its commitment to providing its students with opportunities that enrich their experience and bring them together with experts from various institutions to exchange their ideas and expertise, which will contribute to advancing the education sector,” al-Yafei said.
“We, at Qatar Foundation, are proud to collaborate in this event that aims to drive the education sector in Qatar. The provision of quality education for Qatar’s youth has been, and remains, at the core of Qatar Foundation’s mission, as we believe it is the basis of development and the only way to unlock human potential,” al-Kubaisi said.
“In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The event is called TEDxAlDafnaED , where x = independently organized TED event. At TEDxAlDafnaED event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.”
